The Finance Leadership Programme

Applications for this programme are now closed.

Our work extends into just about every area of the Group, so you can expect to see a huge amount in your time as a trainee. Your placements will take you round different parts of the Group, giving you a solid understanding of the wider business and a clear idea of the part Finance plays in our long-term strategy.

In a flying start to your finance career, you’ll improve policy and processes in close alliance with internal clients, learning best practice and drive strategic change as you go. Expect to be influencing senior figures and developing vital project management skills in no time. You’ll go on to build a wealth of financial expertise from a breath of functions, in addition to honing your leadership and commercial skills.

In the course of the programme, you could find yourself:

  • Supporting financial process improvements across key areas of our business
  • Working with senior stakeholders to support marketing and PR activity for investor relations
  • Working in fraud or financial crime, analysing trends to protect customer security
  • Working with key stakeholders to drive innovation and change

Professional Qualifications

On-the-job learning is only half the story. Just as important for your future are the professional accountancy qualifications you’ll study for – CIMA, ACCA,  ACA or CFA. Whichever you take, we’ll make sure you have all the support you need, including time off for revision in the run-up to exams.

After all that, you’ll have the technical knowledge and strategic perspective to make one business-critical decision after another – not to mention an invaluable network of contacts around the bank. Beyond the programme, our award-winning Finance Academy will offer all the resources you need to maximise your business knowledge, sharpen your technical skills and fulfil your leadership potential. Further qualifications like a Certificate in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) could also await.
